Lockie’s Table

Lockie's Table is being logged into the subalpine. Westerns Block PD-247 sits in terrain with a unique flat bench in the sub-alpine surrounded by lakes and tarns. It’s one of the best and only cragging/hiking/biking zones in our backcountry with a heli tenure for future mountain biking. Continued clearcutting not only threatens future tourism dollars but our watersheds ability to retain moisture, hydrological regimes, water quality and loss of habitat.

“The sub alpine areas do not have amazing regrowth. They are ancient thin soils on young mountains. They are unique habitats representing a post glacier environment. That's why there is Marmots, Ptarmigan, Roosevelt Elk, Native Cutthroat and many other unique species in isolated pockets. These species need their habitats preserved and linked. Those trees, which are rarely huge for their age, need to left alone. They are the purifying watersheds all the water ways down hill depend on. Their value standing greatly out weighs their value cut and they will not fully reform for 10 generations! “
